Your body does not want to workout the way the fitness industry is prescribing. The industry is constantly pushing the limits on the need to put in more work, more sweat, fancier exercises, higher heart rates, higher weights. And must of it is ineffective. Sayings like “that workout crushed me”, “I need to get my heart rate up to a X amount of beeps/minute for an X amount of time”, I’ve got to “put in work”, “I crushed my body”, “I’m not sweating enough” etc, etc.
The said thing is, we feel bad about ourselves if we are not complying to those “standards”. We need to slow things down, get more connected to our bodies, bring our heart rates down, not be concerned about sweating for a good workout, bring the weights down, etc.
Your body needs very little stimulus, over time, to progress. Don’t crush yourself with each workout, but instead give yourself a healthy stimulus. This is how Nature works. Follow Her Way.
